House prices rise as buyers return - November 2005
UK Mortgage News
With the nation suffering debt overload the news that property prices have risen will bring a smile to the many thousands who rely on a housing market that is at least moving. The rise in property prices has been even better for home owners in Scotland who are in line for a 6.5 per cent up lift compared to England and Wales's 0.5 per cent. Some predict that the price's should rise by a further 6 per cent over the next coming 12 month. Buyers have been described as being 'cautious' . Not all areas have witnessed growth and in London and the South East the value of flats has dropped with many estate agents blaming market saturation for the slump.
The South West of the country looks as though it may see the most impressive increases with semis and flats seeing a rise of around seven per cent.
